A REPORT ON DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE’S ENGAGEMENT WITH NKONYA TEPO COMMUNITY

INTRODUCTION
As part of the Assembly’s responsibility to ensuring equal distribution of development and making sure that the communities in question are involve in project initiation, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Biakoye District, Hon. Millicent Kabuki Caboo together with the District Coordinating Director (DCD) and Heads of various Departments visited Nkonya Tepo and engage the community members to discuss developmental issues the people are confronted with and how to address such problems. To the backdrop of reshaping the road linking the Main road and the Community, the engagement was to also affirm Assemblies commitment to that project.
The event took place at the Nkonya Tepo Durbar ground between the hours of 10:15am and 1: 30pm. The occasion was honored by Nanai Adde kusum II, Chief of Tepo and his elders, opinion leaders, youth groups, government workers in the community etc.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE’S REMARK
Applicable to her commitment to foster development, the Hon. DCE expressed delight to be with the community and asked that all issues relating to development in the community is her priority and therefore employed all to come on board at an open forum session to contribute to the discus of the day.

DEVELOPMENTAL CONCERNS OF THE COMMUNITY
Highlights of the concerns of the community are as follows
1. Reshaping the road linking Tepo to the main road.
2. Application of BAC support funds
3. Payment of property rate and Business Operating Permit
4. ECG bill payment point close to the community
5. Construction of CHPS compound
DISCUSION
Nana Akosua Darkoa I raised concern on the bad nature of the linking roading between Tepo road and the main road whenever it rains. She pointed that; the road becomes bad during the rainy season even though not in good shape in the dry season too. A follow up concern from a community member also pleaded that the road should be reshaped to make movement easy for them.
A community member also asked the Hon. DCE and her entourage to educate them on how to access BAC support fund for them to expand their businesses
On the issue of revenue and property payment, a community member wanted to know if it is compulsory to pay such rates.
A teacher at DA Primary pleaded with the Hon. DCE to facilitate the establishment of ECG Bill payment point to reduce the cost they incur from commuting to and fro Kpando to pay bills.
Among the development request by Nanai Adde kusum II, he pleaded with the DCE to construct a CHPS compound for the community because the current building from which the health workers are operating in not spacious for their operation
In addressing the concerns, the Hon. DCE took note of all their challenges and promised to work on them as soon as possible. She also thanked the congregation for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the engagement.
