Celebrating and emphasizing that when the last tree dies, the last man dies, Hon. Millicent Carboo, during her short address to the students of Nkonya Secondary School, told them to be friends with the Green Ghana plants in the school. Hon. said, students can visit them to see how they are faring. The District Chief Executive outlined the following; Green Ghana, which started in 2021, has a goal to plant 20 million trees over a five-year period to combat deforestation, climate change, environmental degradation, restore degraded forest, promote sustainable forest management, enhance biodiversity conservation, support community development, and mitigate climate change effects.
She further said that the Green Ghana initiative is a laudable effort to protect Ghana’s environment and ensure a sustainable future and that tree planting has numerous benefits, including:
1. Oxygen production
2. Soil erosion prevention
3. Wildlife habitat creation
4. Climate regulation
5. Improved air and water quality
She urged all present to support the Green Ghana initiative and contribute to a greener, healthier environment.

The headmaster Mr. Moses Ansah Sasraku thanked the District Chief Executive profusely for having her eyes on NKOSEC. According to him, Hon. Carboo supplied some streetlights and coconut seedlings to the school.
