In pursuit of the realization of the BIAKOYE DISTRICT SECONDARY SCHOOLS FARM PROJECT, which I officially launched on the 10th of August 2023, I followed it up with the inauguration of a nine-member Committee to oversee the operations of the farm. The Committee comprises carefully selected individuals, with Mr. Elias Kwao Siabi, the school’s headmaster, serving as the General Overseer, and Mr. Andrews Abotsinah appointed as the Chairman. Other members include Mr. Anthony Ametepe, who will act as the Secretary (Assistant Planning Officer at BIAKOYE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY), Hon. Perfect Dadibour (Chairperson of the Agriculture Subcommittee), Ing. Carl Mawuli Atitse (Tutor), Menda Kwao Moses, (GES Rep), Mr. Darlinton Miletso (Board of Governors Rep, BOSTECH), Mr. Daniel Aboagye (Assistant Management Information Systems Officer at Bìakoye District Assembly), and the Head of the Agriculture Department at BOSTECH. The initiative has so far yielded a four-acre maize farm, which is approaching maturity. It is of utmost importance that the vision of establishing a twenty-acre farm for multiple cropping and animal farming, supplemented with advanced technology, including robotics, be realized. The funding for this farm project is provided by the Biakoye District Assembly.
In attendance at this event were the District Coordinating Director, District Education Director, Headmaster of BOSTECH, District Agriculture Director, and personnel from the District Assembly and BOSTECH.
_*Field Inspection*_
After the inspection of the farm, I expressed my deep appreciation to the school’s management for their prompt responses, commitment, and dedication to the project.
I emphasized that, as part of my efforts to elevate the Assembly’s position in the District Assemblies Assessment Ranking from the 69th position to the top rank, it is imperative to implement measures and projects that will contribute to this milestone.
The initiation of the Biakoye District Secondary School Farm Project is motivated by several factors, one of which is to enhance food security within Senior High Schools in the district. It also aims to instil in the students, during their formative years, a strong appreciation for farming to ensure sustained food self-sufficiency in the district in the near future. This project will additionally address the nutritional needs of the students.
I charged the Committee with the task of developing a comprehensive plan that will also position the BOSTECH SHS FARM PROJECT properly as a MODEL FARM which will serve as a tourist attraction site as well.
This initiative is designed to stimulate the students’ interest in the agricultural sector and its value chain, while nurturing and instilling in them the ethos of Adam’s first occupation
