WORAWORA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL WINS THE STEM INSTITUTION OF THE YEAR 2022/2023 WITH ITS ULTIMATE PRIZE

The District Chief Executive for Biakoye District, Hon. Millicent Kabuki Carboo, led the Worawora Senior High School and received the ultimate prize of a SCIENCE LABORATORY with its value of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00). The team was made up of the Development Chief of the Worawora Traditional Area and his wife, Barima Dr. & Mrs. Owusu Afari, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Michael Damesi, some members of the school's Board of Governors in the persons of Mr. George Otempong Dankwa, Madam Apee, some past and current students of the school as well. The seriousness of the Robotics Club and its esteemed teachers was duly recognized by the GHANA EDUCATION AWARDS as the STEM SCHOOL of the year 2022/2023. WORASEC for the past years have taken STEM education to a different level. The Thirty Thousand Dollars Science Lab facility will go a long way to enhance the lot of students of the the school. Mr. Daniel Aboagye, a staff of the MIS Dept. of the Biakoye District Assembly was instrumental in the practical works of the Robotics Club of the school. Ayekoo to all who contributed in diverse ways to get us to our current level. We shall PERSEVERE, take INITIATIVES, and hold our INTERGRITY high as our school's motto says and change the narrative of WORASEC being a Category 'C' school to a Science School and to a Category 'A' school. We wish to say a big thank you to the Education Minister, Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum, organizers of the program NUGS, (National Union of Ghanaian Students), the STEM Ambassador Miss Sarah Amoani, and all unseen hands who made the program a success.

BIAKOYE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY RESHAPE SOME ROADS WITHIN THE DISTRICT CAPITAL

This morning starting at 08:00 hours, the contracted KING SOLOMON & GEORGE COMPANY LTD., commenced work on the Nkonya Akloba - Ahundwo stretch of road. The road which covers an area of 1.8km have two heavy duty equipments on it; a bulldozer and a grader. A portion of the road is rocky hence the dozer work in addition to the grader works. Works will last for two days.

Nkonya Tayi

Last Sunday, work started on the Tayi stretch from the Nkonya Secondary School Junction and ended in Tayi Township. The size reshaped was 1.4km. The reshaping got completed on Monday, 11th December 2023.

Both works were funded from the second quarter allocation of the District Assembly Common Fund.

BIAKOYE DISTRICT NADMO DISTRIBUTES RELIEF ITEMS TO FLOOD VICTIMS

This afternoon, The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Biakoye District Assembly led a team of officers from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), to distribute relief items to flood victims within the Biakoye district as a result of the heavy downpour of rains which increased the water volume of the lake volta. In addition to the DCE who is the Chairperson of Biakoye NADMO, the Deputy Director General, Mr. Dan Denteh, Oti Regional Director, Mr. Edward Kumah, the Biakoye District Director, Mr. Henry Danso Zonal Coordinators, and other staff of NADMO aided in the distribution of Sugar, Sleeping Mats, Blankets, Rice, Mosquito Coils, Food Seasonings, Buckets, Bowls, Cups, Clothing, etc. The team started from Nkonya Adzamansu and proceeded Kwamekrom. In the coming days, Nkonya Odomitor, parts of Tapa and Kogokrom, (a suburb of Worawora) will receive their fare share. The DCE used the opportunity to sympathize with them as rains are natural occurrences but when it causes havoc, central Government cannot be an onlooker than to come to the aid of its citizens.
