The Volta River Authority (VRA) on 28th January, 2026 donated four (4) solid waste collection containers (Skip Containers) to the Biakoye District Assembly to enhance effective waste management in the district.
The donation followed a request made by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Eric Opong, during a programme organised by the Authority at Akosombo in 2025.
Presenting the items, the leader of the VRA delegation, Mrs. Rhoda Arthur, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to promoting a clean and healthy environment.
Receiving the items, Hon. Eric Opong expressed the Assembly’s appreciation to the Volta River Authority and assured that the containers would be put to effective use for the benefit of the district.
In addition, the Authority donated exercise books and mathematical sets to selected schools in the district. The beneficiary schools were:
Nkonya Ntsumuru E.P. Primary & JHS
Nkonya Ntsumuru SDA JHS
Bowiri Kwamekrom D/A Primary School
Akaayaw D/A Primary School
Nkonya Wurupong R.C. Primary School
Present at the ceremony were the Coordinating Director and staff of the Biakoye District Assembly.
