The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Biakoye District, Hon. Eric Opong, on Friday, 21st November 2025, cut the sod for the construction of 10 mechanized boreholes across the district.
Speaking at a brief sod-cutting ceremony held at Nkonya Ahenkro, the DCE emphasized the critical importance of access to safe drinking water, especially at a time when typhoid cases are on the rise. He assured the people that the Assembly remains committed to expanding potable water supply to all communities.
Hon. Opong further noted that boreholes that have broken down in some communities will soon be rehabilitated to ensure continuous access to clean water.
The Paramount Chief and the people of Nkonya Ahenkro expressed profound gratitude to the government and the District Assembly, noting that the mechanized boreholes will greatly alleviate the persistent water challenges faced by the area. They also appealed to the government and the Assembly to consider the construction of a modern market structure for the Nkonya Ahenkro Traditional Area to boost local economic activities.
