DCE’s COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Published: 27 September 2023

Reference to the Local Governance Act 2016 (936), the DCE is mandated to periodically engage the communities within her jurisdiction. To fulfil this legal mandate, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Millicent Kabuki Carboo engaged the chiefs and people of Nkonya Ahundwo to get their development needs for planning purposes. After the Assemblyman of the area Hon. Benedictus Aluppo welcomed the the DCE’s entourage, a concise address was delivered by the DCE which featured on issues pertaining to sanitation and the need for the citizenry to pay taxes to the Assembly to facilitate development.
The chiefs and people of Ahundwo on the other hand raised concerns on the need to fix their Road, construct CHPS compound, reconstruction of the Ahenkro Market, provision of reliable Telecommunication Network, provision of Desks for the Basic School in the community, dislodging of the Community Latrine and completion of a Borehole which was started some years back.
Responding to the needs of the community, the Hon. DCE pledged to provide the deficit furniture of the Basic School on Tuesday, the third of October (which is the reopening date for Basic Schools); by this, the school will be completely furnished. She further assured the community that the Assembly will consider their needs for plan preparation. She therefore encouraged the community to initiate self-help projects since that will augment the efforts of the Assembly to develop the District.

The chief of Nonya Ahundwo, Nanai Ampem Darkoh II, his queen, Nanahemaa Darkobea and the people of Ahundwo were grateful to the DCE for the visit.

In attendance were the District Coordinating Director, Development Planning Officer, Distrct Works Engineer and the ADPO.
