THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE’S WORKING VISIT TO ADZAMASU AND NYANTOR

Published: 5 March 2026

As part of the District Chief Executive’s (DCE’s) mandate to engage communities within his jurisdiction and assess their developmental needs, a working visit was undertaken to the communities of Adzamasu and Nyantor on 3rd March, 2026.

The delegation comprised the DCE, the District Coordinating Director (DCD), the District Finance Officer (DFO), the District Engineer, two Assistant Directors, a representative from the Department of Agriculture, and the District Cultural Officer.

At both communities, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Sylvester Akompi, welcomed the delegation and led the community members in introducing themselves. The Assembly’s delegation also introduced themselves, with the DCD formally introducing the DCE to the people.
The DCD took the opportunity to explain the mandate and functions of the Assembly, stating that the Assembly represents the seat of government at the district level and is responsible for addressing the needs and challenges of the people. He emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that without peace, development cannot thrive. He therefore encouraged the communities to work together to ensure the growth and progress of their area.

The District Finance Officer (DFO) explained the purpose of the visit. He indicated that leaders from the area had earlier visited the Assembly to discuss pertinent issues affecting their communities. Following that engagement, it became necessary for the Hon. DCE to undertake a working visit to interact directly with the people and explore practical ways the Assembly could assist in addressing their concerns.

Engagement at Nyantor
During the engagement at Nyantor, the Headman, speaking on behalf of the community, expressed appreciation for the visit. He noted that the community had, over the years, supported the National Democratic Congress but felt that they had not significantly benefited from government interventions. He therefore considered the visit an important opportunity to present their concerns directly to the Hon. DCE.

The Headman outlined several key challenges facing the community, including:

  • Poor road conditions
  • Lack of potable drinking water
  • Inadequate electricity supply
  • The need for a school building for a crèche
  • Other developmental support from the Assembly

He appealed to the DCE to assist in addressing these challenges to improve the living conditions of the people.
In his response, the Hon. DCE expressed sincere appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic of Ghana and the Member of Parliament to the people.

He commended the community’s cultural group for their impressive performance in drumming, singing, and dancing, and indicated that they would be invited to perform at official district functions.

The DCE further informed the community that letters had already been sent to the appropriate national authorities to facilitate the extension and improvement of electricity supply in the area. He also disclosed that efforts were underway to construct a CHPS compound at Adzamasu, which would serve both Adzamasu and Nyantor.

He assured the people of his commitment to leaving a lasting and positive impact in the district. He emphasized that he would work diligently to address the electricity, water, education, road, and health challenges confronting the communities before the end of his tenure.

Engagement at Adzamasu
The second engagement took place at Adzamasu, where the Chief of the area addressed the delegation and highlighted the pressing challenges facing the community. These included:

  • Poor road networks
  • Inadequate school buildings
  • Lack of bungalow accommodation for teachers
  • Poor network connectivity
  • Electricity challenges

He appealed to the Assembly to ensure that the community receives its fair share of national development resources and interventions.

In his response, the DCE thanked the Chief and community members for their warm welcome and apologized for arriving later than scheduled. He assured them that all the issues raised would be given the necessary attention and addressed as soon as possible.

He further stated that, as a native of the district, he remains deeply committed to the development of the area and would not neglect the needs of his people. He reiterated his commitment to addressing the challenges relating to electricity, roads, teachers’ accommodation, and health facilities.

He concluded by urging the community members to remain united and cooperate with the Assembly, emphasizing that collective effort and collaboration are essential for achieving sustainable development in the district.
